First Glowians Elocution Gala held at Skardu Press Club

Skardu: Making this year as eventful as a year can be, the Inter Colleges Bilingual Declamation Contest marked Glowian’s commencement for their very first potential event of 2016 that nevertheless served as an ideal platform for facilitating an exchange of ideas among the student fraternity.
The active participants mesmerized the student audience with their vibrant oratory skills. The declamation competition was uniformly split into two sessions where English speakers depicted their skills at first and was followed by the Urdu ones.
A paired student body from almost every college represented their institutes which included Public School (Girls/Boys), Uswa Girls, APS, THE Educators, Metropolitan College, Baltistan Higher Secondary, Girls Degree College, Uswa Yultar, Uswa Gamba and others.
The English session required students to speak up their skills and opinions on ‘Those who stand for nothing, Fall for anything’ & ‘Patriotism of Gilgit Baltistan’, where various participants were seen concerned about the constitutional limbo of GB.
The English session was shortly followed by the Urdu speakers, where the energetic young speakers’ possessed exuberant skills over the topic ‘Abi tou soye thaey Maqta ko surkhru kr kay’ excerpted from Mohsin Naqvi’s popular poem & ‘Aey Shehr tere Ahl e alum Be-zameer hain’
Every eloquent speaker tried convincing the audience with their perspectives.
Kacho Imtiaz Haider Khan, MLA, was the chief guest and his presence was witnessed with great zeal and warmth by the audience and participants. He lauded the versatility and classic talent exhibited by the students.
In the English Declamation Contest Manzoor Hassan of Metropolitan College grabbed the first position, Faiza of Public School & College (Girls Wing) was declared second while Hamayal Ali of Army Public School Skardu won the third position.
In the Urdu Declamation first position was won by Kainat of USWA Girls College, Danish Murtaza of Baltistan Higher Secondary got the second position while M. Nauman of Public School and College (Boys Wing) was declared third.
Where, overall result of the declamation, institution wise are as under;
Army Public School topped the contest, Public School & College (Girls Wing) stood 2nd and THE Educators’ declared 3rd.
In the end the Chief Guest awarded the competitors with trophies, shields, cash prizes and certificates that were seen as great confidence and morale boosting measure for all the participants.
