Karachi: July 24. The Aga Khan University Examination Board (AKU-EB) has announced results for its Secondary and Higher Secondary School Certifications for the April/ May 2019 examination session. This year, the Examination Board assessed students in 84 subjects across 40 examination centers in Pakistan.
“As leaders in assessment in Pakistan, AKU-EB continues to ensure high quality standards through reliable, valid, fair assessment, support to teachers in schools and through fair and transparent conduct of examination. This year we are pleased to see new schools changing the trends of taking positions. Community Colleges in Sindh which are public sector institutions adopted by Sukkur IBA University brings in great success stories.
Students from varied backgrounds have received high achievers awards and everyone is able to get level playing field in our system. It therefore shows that assessment is the driving force and a good assessment system helps to improve the overall school system,” said Dr Shehzad Jeeva, Director, AKU-EB.
The overall passing rate for SSC students is 95.6% with 45.8% of candidates scoring ‘A’ grade and above.
Duaa Fatima, P.E.C.H.S. Girl’s School, Karachi, city obtained first position overall for SSC examinations, with an impressive 1039 out of 1100 (94.5%) marks. Duaa also gained the first position in the elective subjects of the Science group.
“I am extremely delighted; I was hoping to obtain such a result but didn’t really believed I could do it until today. I plan to become a doctor one day, as the health sector of our country needs a lot of attention,” shared Duaa.
Muhammad Musab Niazi, Bai Virbaiji Soparivala Parsi High School, Karachi, came in second overall for SSC examinations with 1027 out of 1100 marks (93.4%), followed by Misbah Shaikh of Aga Khan School Kharadhar, Karachi who obtained 1024 out of 1100 marks (93.1%) and came in third overall.
The overall passing rate for HSSC students is 97% with 51.4% of candidates scoring ‘A’ grade and above.
Fizza Rubab, Aga Khan Higher Secondary School, Karachi obtained first position overall for HSSC examinations, with an impressive 1041 out of 1100 (94.6%) marks. Not only this, Fizza also gained the first position in the elective subjects of the Pre-Engineering group.
“While preparing for the examinations, I had only one goal in my mind and that is to give my best and fullest. Thankfully, due to my hard work, persistence and determination I not only managed to achieve that objective but also make my family, friends and teachers proud,” said Fizza who aims to pursue higher education in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
Syeda Hureya Abbas, Habib Girls School, Karachi came in second overall for HSSC examinations with 1027 out of 1100 marks (93.4%), followed by Hanif Ali of Aga Khan Higher Secondary School, Chitral who obtained 1017 out of 1100 marks (92.5%) and came in third overall. Hanif also secured second position in the elective subjects of the Pre-Engineering group.
