Shishkat, May 16: Hundreds of protesters belonging to Ayeenabad, Shishkat, Gulmit, Ghulkin and Hussaini resumed their strike today. The protesters are demanding release of funds (600,000 rupees each for 457 households) on urgent basis.

Other demands include draining of the dammed Hunza River, as a result of a mega landslide at Attabad, on January 4, 2010.

FWO has been highly criticised by the protesters for failing to drain the lake despite of a lapse of 15 months.

Speaker GBLA, Wazir Baig, has confirmed the protester’s criticism of FWO by saying that the project can be handed over to a Chinese firm, because FWO has failed to drain the lake, as promised.

ALIABAD – The Hunza Business Association and Progressive Youth Front have announced support for the protest started by IDPs of Gojal in favour of their demands.

The Business Association has appealed for a complete shutter down strike in Aliabad, Hunza, to express  solidarity with the people of Gojal.

PYF Chief Organizer, Baba Jan, has accused the government of conspiring to keep the lack intact to harm the interests of China. He has said that his party completely supports demands of the IDPs of Gojal and Attabad.
