MQM to make Hunza a “free trade zone”, 14 points manifesto announced

Hunza, October 29: The MQM in Hunza announced a 14-point manifesto for the forthcoming election of Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly in a gathering in Karimabad Hunza on Wednesday evening. The gathering was addressed by Sufian Yousuf, MPA from Karachi, Abdul Khaliq Balooch and Abid Zaiidi, members Provincial Coordination Committee. About 350 youth and notables from all over Hunza were present at the occasion.
The MQM manifesto calls for the representation of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan in National Assembly and Senate. The manifesto also includes the up-gradation of Hunza subdivision to District status and calls for two additional seats for Hunza in GBLA. Prioritising education as one of the most important component of the manifesto, MQM announced to upgrade F.G DegreeCollege Aliabad to Engineering College, F.G Girls college Karimabad to Degree College, establishment of Inter College in Gojal, Cadet College in Shinaki, increase in seats for the students of Gilgit-Baltistan in different educational institutions in Sind and establishment of Agro-technical college in Hunza. In health sector, MQM announced to establish a 20-bed hospital in Gojal. In energy and power sector the manifesto includes establishment of new power station and supply of subsidised LPG gas for Hunza. In trade and commerce sector, declaration of Hunza as free trade zone is the main priority. The manifesto also calls to constitute an advisory board of educated youth and notables to discuss issues and provide feedbacks to party leaders.
Addressing the gathering, Sufian Yousuf, MPA from Karachi said that MQM is the only platform 
for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan to raise their voices against the oppressions. He said MQM manifesto seeks ‘Empowerment for all’ and it struggles for the 98% population of the society. He announced to constitute the institutional mechanisms of the party in Hunza soon after the election. The path to struggle for their rights is not easy and MQM has sacrificed about 15,000 workers and supporters, he added.
Abid Zaidi, member provincial coordination committee while relating the miseries of the Muhajirs with the people of Gilgit-Baltistan said that MQM will provide the platform to address all major issues.
Abdul Kahliq Balooch said that all the MNAs, MPAs and senate members of MQM will back the efforts of Kamil Jan in Hunza.
Kamil Jan, the candidate of MQM from Hunza while criticising the role of former representatives said that he is contesting the election with a mission to serve the people. “I don’t have any educational degree but my honest struggle taught me a lot to lead the people and serve them”, he added. He rejected the allegations of pouring huge money to attract voters. He said no family in Hunza should be considered superior. He appealed the Quaid of MQM, Altaf Hussain to keep a close watch on the issues of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.

I have one concern about MQM. As majority of our students live in Karachi without mentors so their involvement in MQM politics will ultimately results tol start mobile snitching, Batha, and other street crime. Before today their were no direct links but now they are planning to establish sectors and other mechanism here as already functioning in Karachi.

How about adding a medical college in Karimabad, a university in Gojal and an international airport in Shinaki… If Mr. Kamil jan is already promising so much, why doesn’t he add a few more? These promise (unrealistic) may win him some votes but educated people of Hunza know these unrealistic promises will remain just promises….
