150 households being evacuated from Talis village of Ghangche District

Flooded stream and landslide threaten human settlement, reports of destruction of 80 houses

Gilgit, July 30: District administration in Ghangche have launched a rescue operation to evacuate around 150 households displaced due to destruction of houses as a result of landslide and flooding in a glacial stream in Talis village, Baltistan division.

According to details landslide started taking place in Talis today, destroying around 80 houses, while displacing residents of more than 150 households.

Last year, at least 13 people in Talis had lost their lives during a flashflood incident. During the recent incident, however, no casualty has been reported.
