Islamabad, June 15: The media in Pakistan is already under pressure from “state and non-state” actors. The recent allegations are likely to put the media further ‘in hot waters’, a press release issued by the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists has said.
The Union has expressed serious concerns over the allegations and demanded concrete evidences from the business tycoon, along with a list of the journalists accused of taking bribes.
PFUJ President Pervaiz Shaukat and Secretary General Amin Yousuf have been quoted as saying that the claims of Malik regarding the journalists are highly condemnable if not true.
“We will be obliged if Mr Malik could provide us with the names of the journalists who were involved in the corruption so that we could cast off the black sheep from our ranks,” Amin Yousuf has been quoted as saying.
