Historical mosque comes under flood water

Khaplu August 27: The historical Jama Masjid Noorbakhshia Tarkari Sarmun has come under water of River Shyok near Khaplu, in Ghanche district of Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to details a historical mosque Jama Masjid Noor Bakhshia Sufia has come under flood waters of river Shyok in Tarkari Sarmoon near Khaplu district headquarterof Ghanche. Since the water level in river Shyok atributary of the indus has incread alarmingly as a result of the ongoing rains nad floods.
Many people including women and children witnessed this unfortunate incident. The women witnessing this ill-fated incident wept and shouted for such a huge loss. Minister of Baldiat Gilgit-Baltistan and deputy commissioner Ghanche visited the site of the damaged mosque. DC Ghanche annouced Rs. !50000 for the restoration or reconsturction of the mosque.
The flood water has damaged almost every part of the mosque. The mosque was consider to be one of the historical mosques of gilgit-Baltistan. It was constructed by Haji Ghulam Muhammad, an eminent architect of his time.
