[Chilas Blast] Across the board condemnation of the incident

Gilgit, January 15: All segments of the society have criticised yesterday’s bomb blasts at girl schools and a religious place in Chilas city. Political leaders, general citizens and student bodies have condemned the attacks and called for peace and harmony in the region.

“We will encircle the terrorists and nab them”, said that Chief Minister, Syed Mehdi Shah. “A handful of terrorists are trying to sabotage the peace of Gilgit – Baltistan”, he reportedly said.

Secretary Education, Mehboob Ali Khan, has said that more emphasis will be laid on spreading awareness and education in Diamir. “Special schools for girls will be constructed in Diamir”, secretary reportedly said.

Balawaristan National Front has termed the attacks to be part of an international conspiracy to trigger sectarianism in the Gilgit – Baltistan region.

Member of GB Council, Syed Afzal, has said that the attacks have been carried out by anti-Islam elements who want to disfigure image of the religion.

Zar Wali, President of National Students Federation, has appealed to the people of Diamir to join hands against the miscreants and work for creation of a more peaceful society.

Various organizations have also decided to launch a protest demonstration in Chilas against the bomb blasts. A group of teachers has demanded of the government to nab the terrorists and punish them for undermining peace and harmony of the region through violence.
