2 GBC advisers appointed, perks and privilege equal to Federal State Ministers!

Islamabad, August 16: Prime Minister Gilani, who is Chairman of the Gilgit – Baltistan Council, has appointed Wazir Ibadat and Professor Saleem as his advisers. The status of the advisers will be equal to that of Federal State Ministers. Other contenders for the position included Muhammad Ibrahim and Maulana Attaullah Shahab.

Gilgit-Baltistan Council comprises of the Prime Minister of Pakistan (Chairman), the Governor GB (Vice Chairman), six members nominated by the Prime Minister of Pakistan from time to time from amongst Federal Ministers and members of Parliament, he Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, six members to be elected by the Assembly in accordance with the system of proportional representation by means of a single transferable vote.

The two advisers have been selected out of the 6 members elected by GBLA.

Whether the advisers will be able to expedite legislation on important issues in the region is a question mark because the elected Gilgit – Baltistan Legislative Assembly has yet to come up with any significant legislation, despite of being in power for more than 2 years.
