8th body found at Gayari, Col. Tanveer-ul-Islam laid to rest
Rawalpindi: Body of another soldier was found at the Gayari sector of Siachen on Wednesday bringing the total number of bodies recovered so far to eight.
According to a spokesman of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) here, identity of the soldier was being ascertained.It may be mentioned here that 139 soldiers, including some civilians, of 6 Northern Light Infantry Battalion came under a huge snow slide on the morning of April 7, 2012 in the Gayari sector near Skardu.
Meanwhile, General Khalid Shameem Wynne Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, senior serving/retired military officers, Junior Commission Officers, Soldiers and people from civil society attended the funeral prayers of Lieutenant Colonel Tanvir Ul Hassan (Gayari Shaheed) here at Chaklala Garrison today, a press release by the ISPR said.
