Lahore: 186 emergency rescuers from GB graduating today

Lahore, June 15: Out of the the 726 rescue workers scheduled to pass out today from Emergency Services Academy Lahore, 186 belong to different parts of the Gilgit –
Baltistan region. The The other rescuers belong to KPK and two Tehsils of South Punjab.
The rescue workers have been provided with specialized training in first-aid, Firefighting, Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR) and Communication Enhancement and Incident Command System.
The emergency rescuers will be deputed in hospitals at their respective districts for hands-on skills in emergency department of teaching hospitals before final posting.
According to some observers the rescuers from GB also need to be trained in mountain search and rescue, avalanche rescue and river water rescue techniques, as majority of deaths in the region occur due to disaster caused by these natural processes.
The passing out ceremony is likely to be attended by GB Chief Minister, Syed Mehdi Shah and Punjab Chief Minister, Mian Shehbaz Sharif, among other dignitaries.
