19 couples tie the knot at a mass ceremony arranged by Aga Khan Social Welfare Board

Chital, June 29: As many as Nineteen (19) couples tied the knot during a mass marriage ceremony at Madaglasht some 100 kilometers from here. The ceremony was organized by Aga Khan Social Welfare Board (AKSWB) in collaboration with Local Council Madaglasht.
Addressing the marriage ceremony honorary secretary Mrs. Shakila said that mass marriage are being held to reduce the cost and time spent on individual marriages.
President of Namdar Council Madaglasht Sher Azim said that main objectives of mass marriage ceremony is to save our resources and to utilize them in other developmental sectors like health, education and infrastructures. Because normally we spent a huge amount and it take 3 days to arrange a marriage which is harmful for our society having less resources of income, he added.
Qazis of the area read Nikah of new couples and tied them for life, in line with Shariat-e-Muhammadi.
Gifts were also presented to the new couples. The one-dish marriage ceremony is gaining popularity in Chitral region, helping families with less income sources to save money for more important needs like education and health.
Talking to this scribe a bride and bridegroom said that they were very happy to get married during the mass ceremony because many people are unable to afford lavish ceremonies.
A large number of people were presented on the occasion. Mass marriage ceremony was finalized with a simple way by charging only 7000 fee from each couple and tradition of one dish was also maintained. it is worth to mention here that last year this organization had arrange mass marriage ceremony where 27 couples were tied in knot.
