Gilgit, June 15: The Gilgit-Baltistan government and administration yesterday bowed down to the pressure exerted by the protesting government employees. The Chief Secretary announced on Friday the the government employees will continue getting the 25% amount and a notification issued earlier announcing annulment of the additional salary has been withdrawn.

Thousands of employees of the GB government had started a pen-down protest throughout the region, disrupting the entire system and causing great difficulties for the common people who had to wait outside hospitals, banks and other government offices across the region.

The decision of the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary has been hailed by the All Employees Federation Gilgit-Baltistan at a meeting held in the regional capital. According to a press release the Federation has also urged the government and the administration to take steps to resolve the issue on permanent basis, to avoid similar situations in the future.

  1. This is a political gimmick …If this govt was sincere it should have done it 3 years ago. Now who is going to pay the additional amount of billions of rupees? The GB has neither revenue generation nor the federal govt is ready to give a single penny. If these people don’t get the salary tomorrow they are going to protest and the PPP admin will say that PML govt is not releasing funds for the employees. How can a CM without any source of income announce such This govt has under any law no authority to raise salaries or appoint a bulk of 4000 employment. GB will have to ask for alms which may not be accepted as desired
