Demand for locally manufactured stoves on the rise in Gilgit-Baltistan
PT Report
Gilgit, November 6: Demand for locally manufactured stoves has increased in the Gilgit-Baltistan region with the sharp drop in temperature. Today, there were reports of rain and snowfall from all parts of the region.
The locally manufactured stoves have been in vogue in the region for several decades. However, it is also believed that they are not very efficient for keeping the house warm. They consume a lot of firewood and also produce smoke that is injurious to eyes and lungs. Improved versions of the stoves, with better ventilation techniques, have come in the market but there’s a lot more desired, to conserve the environment through effective usage of fuel.
Many people use electric heaters but they unreliable, mostly because of power shortage, and they are also not very affordable for thousands of families.
It is pertinent to note that technologically advanced societies across the world have been able to create fuel efficient and reliable heating systems for households and other buildings. However, those technologies by and large remain unknown due to poverty.
