Baltistan: 120 students caught cheating, 5 handed over to police
PT Report
Gilgit, April 1: A team of the officials of Karakuram International University has registered cases against 120 students after they were caught cheating. Five people have been handed over to the police for taking exams in place of other candidates. Examination staff in Rondu has been suspended and sent home.
According to information shared by the KIU, a team comprising of the controller and deputy controller of examinations along with other staff members visited various examination centres in Skardu and Ghanche district of the Gilgit-Baltistan region and caught around 120 students cheating. FIRs were registered against five people who were taking exams instead of other candidates.
The KIU handout said that these measures are being taken to curb the menace of cheating which has plagued educational institutions. The entire examination staff of Rondu High School was terminated for failing to curb cheating.
Need to work more to eliminate this evil that has become a part of society. In current situation the cheaters are encouraged and supported. specifically exam system I want to share a case study of an exam centre where the principal allows the students to sit in the centre after thoroughly checking and searching them while examiner and supervisors facilitate the cheating. If this would be standard of our supervisors as well as nominating bodies definitely merit would be deteriorated and cheaters would lead in all fields whether that is appointment, recruitment or promotion as well.We appreciate the KIU team for strict vigilance but at the same time expect a lot for reforms in nominating the staff, checking the papers and assuming their routine work as well. The defame examiners should be blake listed for ever and avoid to nominate the supervisors on the bases of various affiliations.Beside the monitoring the system, mentoring of staff is also equally important. We should never deceive to our nation through encouraging malpractices like cheating. Our this tendency would lead to our generation towards failure of future and corruption as well.
