Under-construction Support Bridge collapses in Nagar Valley
Reporting by Ijlal Hussain
Aliabad, August 10: A bridge constructed to support a 12 inch pipeline supplying water to Chalt and Sikandarabad towns in the Nagar valley collapsed yesterday night. The support bridge was under-construction since 2007, according to local sources. Usage of substandard material is being quoted as the major reason behind collapse of the support bridge.
The 31,800 feet long pipeline is being laid to supply water between Chalt and Sikandarabad. Additional funds were also provided for the project in 2013. However, the work had been pending for long periods of time.
Deputy Commissioner visited the spot and instructed the Assistant Commissioner Nagar to arrest the contractor, identified as Alamgeer, and register a case against him.
