Contractors get relief from double taxation
Gilgit: Contractors hired to execute projects in Gilgit-Batlistan have a reason to smile. They will not be required to pay double taxes for the work they do in GB. The taxes on their income will only be charged in GB, even if the contract was assigned to them in other parts of Pakistan, or even if they receive the payment in some other part of Pakistan.
This has been stated in Circular, No. 16 (2016), dated 3rd October of October, issued by the Federal Board of Revenue.
The relief will help the contractors who are from outside Gilgit-Baltistan. They had complaints that the existing arrangements they are made to pay double taxes on the income received from projects executed in the Gilgit-Baltistan region.
