Five military personnel killed in road mishap
Gilgit-Five military personnel died on the spot and one was seriously injured when the Double Door Pick they were travelling in was hit by a huge boulder that fell from a mountain on their way to Gilgit near Shangus Pari – an area where land-sliding is a routine matter.This was disclosed by successive Inspector General Police Colonel (Retd.) Farman Ali here on Monday evening.
The site of incident was Shangus Pari, the police chief said. The point lies in the Karakorum Range of mountains, few kilometres far upstream Indus River from the juncture of three vast mountainous terrains.
Shangus, situated some 70 kilometres off Gilgit, is one of deadliest points during the journey between Gilgit and Skardu, and has claimed many lives. Source: Pkistan Observer
