Chief Secretary heralds “good year” for journalists

Gilgit, June 25: Media colonies are being built in Skardu and Gilgit and free health services will be offered to journalists of Gilgit – Baltistan. This was stated by the Chief Secretary of NAs while talking to a delegation of the Gilgit – Baltistan Union of Journalists.
According to reports a delegation comprising of Mehboob Khayam of Gilgit press club and Qasim Butt & Ghulam Ali of Skardu Press club met the chief secretary and discussed various issued being faced by the journalist community of Gilgit – Baltistan. The chief secretary said that new housing colonies for the media people are being built in Skardu and Gilgit, to provide them relief. He also said that free health facilities will be provided to the journalists at government hospitals.
He further said that the government intends to take journalists of Gilgit – Baltistan on international tours, besides providing them quality journalism training. He also emphasized on the journalists to harness unity in the community and promote peace and tolerance through the pen.
