Gilgit: Violence claims 3 lives, 2 injured

Gilgit, August 21: A fresh wave of violence has reportedly claimed three lives in Gilgity city today. According to reports, two residents of Swat were shot near Sakwar village, located at the fringes of Gilgit city. One person, Abdul Haleem son of Abdul Jaleel, died on the spot while the other one, identified as Mirza son of Ezzat Khan, breathed his last at the CMH hospital.
In another incident, two Jawans of the Frontier Constabulary (FC) were shot at near the office of the Deputy Commissioner in Khomar area. One of the Jawans was killed in the incident while the other was shifted to hospital in critical condition, sourced informed.
There are also reports about sporadic firing incidents in different parts of the city.
According to unconfirmed reports a number of truck drivers have been abducted by unknown people in Danyore town, adjacent to Gilgit city.
The violence has started on fifth day of an uneasy calm in the city, in a situation shaped by the murder of 19 people belonging to Shia (15) and Sunni (4) sects of Islam at Lulusar area of Naran Valley.
