Absconder wanted for Buner Das (Chilas) massacre arrested from Mansehra
Chilas: Police has apprehended a man accused of being behind the Buner Das massacre, in which more than a dozen people, mostly Shia Muslims, were shot dead near Chilas, the district headquarters of Diamer.
Amin Ullah, son of Hameed Ullah, a resident of Hudur, had been hiding after the 3rd April 2012 sectarian massacre. He was declared an absconder by the court and efforts were being made to apprehend him. The GB government had announce a 500,000 rupees head money for his arrest.
Yesterday, a Chilas Police team, including SHO Shah Sarwar, ASI Mujeebur Rehman and Havlidar Abdul Ghaffar, on a tip-off, raided a house in Mansehra, Hazara Division of KPK, and apprehended him.
Hameed Ullah, who had permanently shifted to Mansehra and was living in hiding, has been handed over to the Investigation Wing (Gilgit) for further interrogation. He is wanted in a number of cases on charges of murder, attempted murder, rioting and arson, registered under the Pakistan Penal Code and Anti-Terrorism Act.
On 3rd April 2012 buses were stopped in the Buner Das area, near Chilas, by a mob, the identity cards of the passengers were checked and over a dozen people belonging mostly to the Shia sect of Islam were brutally murdered. Many buses were torched and pelted with stones by a large mob.
