At least 1 billion cups of tea are consumed annually in Gilgit-Baltistan

Islamabad: People in Gilgit-Baltistan consume at least 1 billion cups of tea every year, according to rough estimates.
The population of Gilgit-Baltistan is around 1.5 million. Presuming that 1 million people consume three cups of tea every day, it can be estimated that around 1 billion 9 crore cups of tea are consumed annually in the region.
Presuming that one cup of tea costs 5 rupees, the spending on tea alone in the region can be estimated at around 5 billion rupees annually.
Most of the people in Gilgit-Baltistan drink tea with Salt.
According to HARVARD research, high salt intake can cause several severe health issues.
