South Korean tourist says a govt employee attempted to rape her


SOST/GILGIT: A Korean tourist has lodged a complaint against a government employee, accusing him of attempted rape.

Officials have identified the accused as Abdul Qayum, a driver of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), hailing from Mardan area of KPK.

According to an application submitted to the Station House Office (SHO) of Police Station Sost, the Korean national has said that the official forcefully pushed her into his room after taking him to a residential area on the pretext of helping her. The employee, reportedly, took selfies with the tourist, before assaulting her sexually, by allegedly trying to take her cloths off, kissing her and touching her private body parts.

The Korean citizen has also said that she ran out of the room and saved herself when a person (unnamed) opened the door after hearing her screams and cries for help.

The Korean tourist has also told the police that she took the employees phone while running out of the room, and also photographed him from the backside.

Hunza’s Superintendent of Police (SP) , confirming receipt of the complaint, has said that the accused official has absconded and a search is on to arrest him.
