Electricty Crisis in Gojal Valley
Khyber: The largest magistracy of northern areas, Gojal, plunged into darkness. According to reports receieved by Pamir Times the only power station of Gjoal, located in Khyber village, has developed faults and electricty supply has been dirupted throughout Gojal.
Informed sources told us that major machinary faults were caused due to negligence of the engineers doing repair works on some of the turbines. The troubled machines would be taken to Gilgit for repair purpose. The repairing process would take more than a month or two, said the source.
During the harsh winters people of Gojal will have to live without light and heat. Wood supplies have already decreased because of constant deforestation and hike in prices of timber.
Public cirles have expressed their anger and demanded that diesel generators shall be provided to Gojal. Diesel Generators have been used in Gilgit city, in the past. These generators are not being used currently because of the 18 MW Naltar Power Project.
