Gilgit - Baltistan

First Snowfall of the season, winter lurks at the door of Gojal

By: Zulfiqar Ali Khan

Hunza, October 20: The sudden light-snowfall in different parts of Gojal valley has totally changed the weather during the middle of the autumn. This indicates an earlier and hard winter in the region. The people have started wearing warm cloths.

Similarily, regular rainfall in central Hunza and other parts of Gilgit-Baltistan has also caused chilly weather, forcing people to use warm cloths.

  2. Yes we all are proud of our villages, but in this regard when we are in the era of globalization we need one identity, one name and a strong cultural representation, thats only Gojal, Hunza, Gilgit than offcourse Pakistani.

  4. I personally prefer prioritizing other identities, like humanity, above all identities. I think there is no harm in being proud of our ‘Villagic’ ‘Gojali’, ‘Hunzai’ or ‘Pakistani’ identities. However, humanity is the biggest identity, free from all prejudices of race, language, region, nation and supra-nation 🙂

Kiya khayal hay? Waisay is topic k under yeah ‘identities’ ki debate kaha say aayi? 😛

  5. how different climate can be observe in different parts of the world, in the northern hemisphere winter started people wearing thick sweaters and where I live summer started in the southern hemisphere, people walking almost half dressed. I didn’t saw any differnce in both summer and winter here, that’s Hunza can enjoy the four season.
    Miss you Gojal………………………………………………………Hunza.

  8. wow………..thts fantabulous…….i havent seen the winter season of gojal for long time…..thanks to pamir times for updating us…..

  9. GDNESSS ……! Well as far as I perceived the message it was just about the arrival of winter in Gojal, and dragging this so simple comment in to a non ending debate seems nonsense……reflect!!!!!!!!!!!
Any ways, if concerned with “to be or not to be” as Gulmitic ,Ghulkinik or Gojali………… What I think is best defined by God himself as said in the Holy Quran that God has made every Individual take birth in a specific tribe and caste so that heshe be easily identified on earth by others. Reflect!!!!!!!! So be a Gulmitic, be a Ghulkinic or a Gojali but ever respect the others living around you.

It is human nature of bieng baised towards himself even he knows that there is a bad man inside him. This is beauty if besides this we welcome all others to enter our hearts,if this is used as a measuring tool to compare you and me,she and he,this and that ,these and those and this areas and that area, then , is the begining of downfall.
W should go according to this line ” you are of your own not mine but bieng your own try to be mine……..”

  11. Why don’t we, who live out of beloved villages, enjoy the glimpses of our pure, unpolluted, serene environment by looking at the nice pictures, at least, instead of dragging ourselves into an unnecessary debate of identities.

  12. Respect others point of view u may be wiser but other is also not fool.If Noor believes that its humanity first then choosing Pamir a brand name for ur blog contradicts your logic.

  13. Dear Aman Karim

Wel come to Pamir News Blog.

I respect your point of view related to the contradiction that you see in my love for humanity and the selection of “Pamir” as a “brand name”, as you termed it.

However, I don’t see a contradiction. You completely neglected my initial sentence or missed it. I definitely love my skin 🙂

there would be a contradiction if I claim to be a lover of humanity on the one hand and use the term “pamir” in racist manners, disowning rest of the humanity, “intellectually” or “fascistically”, to invent a term.

We the Pamir News Family, use the term Pamir as a point of unification, cohesion and harmony, rather than the opposite. Pamirs, as you know, span across four countries, at least, sheltering tens of ethnic and religious groups, sharing the bond of humanity. Whether you are a Kyrghyz, a Siriqoli, a Burushaski speaker, Wakhi speaker or Khowar speaker, what binds us is humanity and our regional togetherness.

But we don’t use our Pamiri Identity to fit ourselves in a cocoon. We are making strides, moving across boundaries, keeping our regional identity, adding colors to the tapestry that the global community of human beings is!

I had been eagerly waiting for you to join the discussions on Pamir Times. I am thankful to you that you shared you time with me.

    regards

    ur comment…

However, humanity is the biggest identity, free from all prejudices of race, language, region, nation and supra-nation .

How can u call them prejudices. These are strengths not weakness .Human society is bonded through these strong forces.i.e culture, languge, region and nation.

What is supra-nation, Kinda Taliban want to have.who have no respect for culture, religions and languge..only have their own wish for supra-fancy world.

    Please dont reply.

  16. Dear Aman Sahab

Although you have asked me not to reply I thought it is important to.

    Race Prejudice – Nazis
    Language Prejudice – Bengali/Punjabi or Pukhtoon/Urdu riots
Religious Prejudice – Salafis, the Taliban, Al Qaeeda
Nation Prejudice – The ENGLISH as the Superior natoin, or the French as the superior nation have destroyed the world many a time

History is replete with examples to say that these ‘bonds’ of humanity have been used to shatter humanity as well. I think the contexts play a very important role when we make judgements about the rights/wrongs of elements of society like race, language, culture, region, nation etc.

Supra nation is something that the European Union is seeking to achieve, or is half way through in pursuit. The Taliban, it seems, are known for all sins, whether they commit them or not!

  17. Dear sarakhan!
