6th census starts today

ISLAMABAD: The first phase of 6th census in the country would start from today (Tuesday) while tight security measures have been adopted in this connection.

As per details, first phase of 6th census is being started from Tuesday (today) during the first phase the houses would be registered. The 39014 trained circular supervisors and Charge Superintendents have been deployed in Punjab, 18471 deployed in Sindh, 9955 deployed in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa, 1698 deployed in Fata, 10724 deployed in Balochistan, 834 deployed in Gilgit Baltistan, 2683 deployed in Azad Kashmir and 576 deployed in Islamabad.

According to Secretary Statistics Asif Bajwa, all parts of the country have been distributed into 10,40,72 blocks and maps have been made while manpower comprising 1,75000 men would take part in the national activity.

He said that every citizen of all four provinces, tribal areas, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan would be count in the census while details about the ambassadors and foreigners would be gathered.

    There has been no large scale publicity, nor sample forms have been published. With current security situation, who will open the doors of one’s house and allow survey staff inside the house. Once again government messes up an very important exercise due to lack of planning .
