Hit and run incident in Khomar Gilgit, residents protest

Gilgit, November 15: An eleven year old child, Mukhtar Ahmed son of Ghulam Ahmed, was severely injured in a hit and run incident that occurred in Khomar locality of Gilgit city. The local people immediately shifted the injured child to a nearby hospital where his condition is said to be out of danger. It was the second such incident at the same spot during the last week.

Residents of Khomar, angered by the incident, blocked the main Shahrah Qauid-e-Azam for around 2 hours, demanding arrest of the driver. The protesters also demanded construction of a speed-breaker on the road, for ensuring safety of the pedestrians.

Later, after negotiations with DSP Headquarter, Tanveer Hasan, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
