Gojal: Cricket teams of girls from different villages of Gojal Valley, Upper Hunza, will be participating in the third Ghalapan Women’s Premier League, starting tomorrow.
The tournament will continue for three days, and the final will be played on the 16th of July.
Women in the region have started actively participating in various sports, after getting encouraged by the honor and respect received at the national level by Samina Baig, Diana Baig, Malika-e-Noor, and other sportswomen.
A cricket tournament of girls’ teams was also played in the month of June in Khudabad, where teams from different villages of Gojal Valley competed.
Social attitude towards girls’ participation in sports has changed, and now parents, and the society at large, has become more receptive, which is being seen as a good omen for equity and equality.
