Gilgit – Baltistan Students Union formed in Faisalabad, Punjab

Faisalabad: On April 09 2011 students of Gilgit – Baltistan studying in different universities of Faisalabad came together at GMS (Gilgit Management Society), Narwala Dhobighar.

The gathering was attended by 25 students from National Textile University, GCU, Agriculture University and Technical College Samanabad. A range of issues were discussed during the gathering and the foundations of GBSU was laid, for coordination and joint action.

Speaking on the occasion Rehmat karim finance officer PRSP (Punjab Rural Support Program) who was also Chief Guest of the event said that the future of Gilgit Baltistan relies on the strength, unity and education of youth. He said that students no matter where ever they are from should work together without any discrimination.

Taking advantage of the first ever gathering a union of Students, GBSU (Gilgit Baltistan Student Union) is established. Haritham Khan of National Textile University, Iftikhar Ahmed and M. Azam from Agriculture university, Ejaz Karim and Abid Karim from GCU and Sadruddin from Samanabad Technical College were selected as representatives of the newly formed GBSU.

It was decided that the GBSU would use new-media networks, like facebook, extensively to bring the students together and share information and ideas.

  1. I personally appreciate this initiative and I hope the newly formed cabinet will do better work to upgrade its status and will able to provide a platform in Fsd where the coming youth can be benefited in educational and Socio-Eco-political issues of the region GB and the mutual interest too.
