[updated] Baba Jan arrested by Hunza police

Update – Baba Jan was released by the Aliabad Police after residents of Nasirabad staged protest demonstration against his detention earlier today.

HUNZA, December 25: The police have arrested Chief Organizer of Progressive Youth Front (PYF), Baba Jan, for blocking the Karakoram Highway during a protest rally held in Nasirabad (lower Hunza).

Cases have been registered against the flamboyant leader under article 147, 149 and 341 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Baba Jan has been leading a series of protests against power breakdown in the Shinaki region of Hunza.
