PT Report
Gilgit, October 28: Student organizations of GBian students across Pakistan are readying themselves to celebrate the independence day of Gilgit – Baltistan on November 1. A representative of the Darel Students Federation has said that the organization is all ready to celebrate the independence day.
Meanwhile, NASA Gilgit – Baltistan (formerly known as Northern Areas Students Association) is also conducting a cake-cutting ceremony to celebrate the day. A representative of NASA has told the media that Karachi based GBians can join the cake-cutting ceremony at Karachi University.
Similar celebrations are also being planned in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Abbottabad by the students and youth of Gilgit – Baltistan.
It is pertinent to note that GB got independence from the Dogra/Kashmiri Raj on November 1, 1947, after a successful rebellion by the Gilgit Scouts, who were later backed by the Pakistan Army.
People of GB, thus, celebrate two independence day, one on August 14 and another on November 1.
